 SWEEPER BAY CONSTRUCTION

Contract awarded to Bussell Plant for Sweeper Bay construction at Viridor, Dimmer Landfill Site.

Construction of two road sweepings and gully emptying waste, de-watering bays to be built on the existing densiphalt compost slab at dimmer.er landfill site.

A wet bay where surplus liquid is deposited by road sweeping vehicles. The remaining solid fraction will then be deposited in the dry bay, to drain. Two walls serve as push walls ,formed from large concrete “Ecoblocks” .

The push walls are supported by six galvanised columns. Other walls built using railway sleepers supported in channels and columns

There are three steel grilles slotted into the base of the sleeper walls which allows the liquid to drain to a reinforced concrete silt trap.

The existing dished compost drainage channel was diverted around the new silt trap. Liquid that drains to the silt trap passes over a weir and down a pipe to the existing compost chamber and into the existing compost leachate lagoon.
